Rose Business Park Blaby, engineers at BSP Consulting have been providing civil, structural and geotechnical consultancy services at a 7.8-acre commercial scheme at Rose Park, Blaby.
Being developed by Brackley Property Developments, as a Joint Venture with Grange Developments.
The site in Leicestershire is just off Blaby bypass and with good access to both Leicester city centre and Junction 21 of the M1/M69.
The £7 million Rose Business Park Blaby scheme is providing mainly commercial warehousing up to 75,000 sq ft and office premises up to 21,500 sq ft in a mix of single-storey and two-storey steel-frame units.
The new build industrial park will offer design and build solutions for Office, Industrial and Warehouse occupiers.
Isherwood McCann provided architectural services.
BSP’s civil and structural engineering role in the development has included the design of a sustainable drainage strategy, featuring swales and an attenuation basin to allow surface water to be treated before discharge into the adjacent watercourse.
Existing trees and previously removed trees on site dictated that suspended ground slabs would be necessary.
Additional site investigation works and analysis of the clay sub-soils allowed BSP to justify the use of traditional ground bearing slabs, producing significant cost savings for the client.
The overall cut and fill strategy including ground stabilisation resulted in all arisings being retained on site.
The strategy included a borrow pit to enable the development plateaus to be created and earthworks bund to retain all material including existing topsoil on site.
