Affordable housing is social rented, affordable rented and intermediate housing, provided to eligible households whose needs are not met by the market. BSP has a strong background in the delivery of affordable housing projects from large brownfield regeneration schemes to small rural exception sites, with a range of accommodation including bungalows, houses and high-rise developments. These projects have been delivered through a variety of procurement routes, including registered provider frameworks, Section 106 sites, Arms Length Management Organisations and contractor/developer-led package deals.
BSP has considerable experience of delivering projects to the Code for Sustainable Homes standards 3,4,5 and 6. We have also helped to achieve Passivhaus and BREEAM Communities certification on a number of developments. Our knowledge of the Lifetime Homes Standard enables us to design and incorporate the needs of flexible living arrangements for residents as they progress through to later life.
We are also able to undertake viability assessments and understand the needs and aspirations of all parties involved in the process, enabling us to negotiate an optimum solution for each project. Our in-depth knowledge and experience of the development process allows us to maximise development potential for clients which can also dramatically speed up the development process.
