Arbourthorne, Retirement Complex, Sheffield

A £6.5 million project to build a retirement complex and bungalows at Arbourthorne, Sheffield. BSP was civil and structural engineer for the Sanctuary Housing scheme, which has created 52 apartments for the over 55s and four eco-friendly homes.

The scheme was part of a redevelopment of the Arbourthorne Fields area, and was built by Keepmoat, who received a high rating during an assessment under the Considerate Constructors Scheme while building work was underway. The contractors received a ‘Performance Beyond Compliance’ certificate after achieving a mostly excellent rating.

As a key development partner, Sheffield City Council provided the land for the development.
