BSP Consulting was the civil and structural engineer on a new Derbyshire housing development recently completed for Futures Housing Group.

The 18 new homes at Coast Hill, Crich, are available for shared ownership and for rent, and will provide much-needed affordable accommodation for local people in the heart of the village.

Built by Geda Construction, the £3m development includes a mix of houses and six bungalows.

The 18 properties include two-bedroomed and three-bedroomed shared ownership, affordable rent, and Rent to Buy properties.

“We’re committed to building high-quality and affordable homes for local people and this site is a great example of this.

Crich is a beautiful, highly sought-after village, and these homes will give people the chance to stay in the area near family and friends,” said James Dial, Programme Manager at Futures Housing Group.

BSP’s role involved some pre-planning work and all civil and structural engineering aspects of the development including levels, foundations, roads and drainage.

Director at BSP, Tony Goddard, said: “We were delighted to provide civil and structural engineering services on this new Derbyshire housing development for Futures Housing Group, an organisation that we’ve now worked with on several schemes.

The affordable homes sector is a sector that BSP is very familiar with, and we are proud to see how these new homes in Crich have been welcomed by the community.”

Other members of the development team included architect Halsall Lloyd Partnership.

Work began on the site in November 2019, and homeowners and tenants moved into their new homes at the end of July 2021.

A possible phase two of the project is being explored which will allow Futures Housing Group to build more affordable homes on the site.

Part of the organisation’s new corporate plan objective is to build hundreds of homes, across the region, over the next three years.
