Clarks Mill Conversion Wiltshire
March 1, 2022

BSP Consulting is part of the team involved in an historic mill conversion scheme.

The company is the structural and civil engineer on the project at Clarks Mill and Mill House in the heart of Trowbridge in Wiltshire.

The project at the red brick grade II listed former mill includes conversion of the existing four-storey structure, plus the addition of an extra storey. Originally the building was used as a textile mill but in more recent times it has been operating as offices.

The current conversion will create 16 apartments – a mix of two and three-bedroom apartments and duplex and triplex apartments.

BSP Consulting director Paul Elphick said: “Clarks Mill and Mill House is a fantastic complex and we’re delighted to have been appointed on this historic mill conversion scheme which will breathe new life into these stunning buildings. It’s a sensitive and sympathetic conversion.

“The building has huge windows allowing natural light to flood into the apartments, it will be amazing. BSP Consulting has wide experience of working on heritage sites across the East Midlands and further afield and we are very pleased to be offering our expertise in civil and structural engineering to the development team involved in the Clarks Mill and Mill House conversion. This really is a stunning project.”

Other members of the development team include developer Barook Development Ltd and Greenward Associates (Architects).

The original Clarks Mill, which is based in Stallard Street, Trowbridge, dates from 1860. The Mill House dates from the early 19th Century.

Work is currently ongoing at the site, with expected completion later in 2022.
