BSP Consulting has been part of the team to secure double planning approvals for new industrial units and Padel courts at Barbrey Business Park in Leicestershire.
Melton Borough Council has approved two separate planning applications for land immediately west of the existing Barbrey Business Park on the edge of Bottesford.
On behalf of the client, Barbrey Business Park, the applications were led by Nick Grace from planning consultants Grace Machin Planning & Property and the team included architects CPMG Architects, flood Risk and drainage consultants, Lumax Consulting and ecology assessment from JM Ecology, as well as BSP Consulting.
BSP Consulting acted as highways engineer on both projects, providing transport planning advice, undertaking the site access feasibility and providing the transport statement and travel plan.
The first application secured is a scheme consisting of two new light industrial units with associated car parking.
The new industrial units will sit at the rear of existing service yards and are designed to match those already in place. Each unit is c.700sqm gross external area and contains a small office, kitchenette and accessible toilet.
The second application granted is for three new Padel courts with 24 new car parking spaces. The new courts will be sited to the rear of existing storage units within the business park. The proposal also includes a reception area, coffee shop, small kitchen, accessible toilet and two changing and shower rooms.
One of the fastest growing sports across continental Europe, Padel has gained increasing popularity over recent years. A form of tennis that is easy to play, fun and extremely sociable, it is played mainly in a doubles format on an enclosed court about a third of the size of a tennis court and can be played in groups of mixed ages and abilities.
Both developments will have direct access via a new entrance onto Orston Lane.
Development of the new units is expected to start in the coming months.
