BSP Consulting was part of the team supporting William Davis Homes Ltd to secure planning on a residential development in Barrow on Soar following an appeal.
The development proposal for land off Cotes Road, Barrow Upon Soar in Leicestershire includes up to 70 residential units including associated infrastructure and open space, all matters reserved except access.
It was appealed based on non-determination by the local planning authority from the original submission, back in 2021. The appeal was lodged in early 2026 and the decision was granted in May this year.
BSP was involved in the initial application supporting with flood risk assessment and drainage strategy, as well as a transport assessment. BSP Director Tony Goddard acted as expert witness for highways and transport matters at the appeal.
Director at BSP Consulting, Jason Davenport commented: “It was an unusual case in terms of appeal but having been involved with the civil engineering elements of the pre-planning stages for flood risk, transport and drainage, we were able to support the formal enquiry.”
In a LinkedIn post, William Davis shared: “The scheme will deliver up to 70 new homes on land at Cotes Road, including green open space, a play area, and off-site footpath and highway improvements.
“This decision represents an important step in helping to deliver much-needed market and affordable homes within Charnwood, while supporting the wider allocation for the area.
“Thank you to Kings Chambers, Savills, eFM, Planning and Design Group (UK) Ltd, BSP Consulting Ltd, RammSanderson Ecology Ltd, Wharton Natural Infrastructure Consultants and Gateley for their expertise and collaboration throughout the appeal process.”
Jason added: “Now planning has been granted we’re looking forward to supporting William Davies and the wider team in progressing to detailed site design and construction, to bring new homes to Leicestershire.”
