BSP Consulting completes nursery and preschool project
March 25, 2021

The team at BSP completes nursery and preschool project.

BSP has completed the latest nursery and preschool scheme undertaken for the London Preschool Company.

The development at the West Finchley Preschool in the centre of West Finchley in London included a part conversion of Victorian outbuildings and part new build.

On a challenging site, surrounded by protected trees, the design of the daycare and nursery school facility provides outdoor space at tree canopy level.

It also provides a series of roof terrace areas.

Internally it offers a variety of rooms for different ages, from babies to five-year-olds.

Also included is a performing art studio, a visual art studio and a sensory room.

BSP was the civil and structural engineer on the scheme in Nether Street, using Building Information Modelling (BIM).

Other members of the team for the West Finchley Preschool development included architects Rayner Davies.

BSP senior structural engineer Gareth Ellison said:

“This was a challenging build, due to the existing trees and structures on the site.

“We are delighted to have successfully completed another scheme for the London Preschool Company.”

BSP previously worked on a new nursery at Wandsworth for the London Preschool Company.

This opened in 2016 and featured a dedicated sensory room, art and performing arts and science and technology learning labs.

The firm was also the engineer at the company’s Muswell Hill Preschool, which involved creating a mezzanine in a former church hall. It opened last year.
