Bowling Green Road Gainsborough, Engineers at BSP Consulting have played a key role in a new housing development currently being built beside the River Trent at Gainsborough in Lincolnshire.
The company undertook the flood risk strategy for the scheme in Bowling Green Lane, which will create 135 new homes, including 60 apartments, on a brownfield site in the town.
Experts at BSP liaised with the Environment Agency early in the planning process to discuss key flood risk issues in the Flood Zone 3 area and to negotiate an agreeable, cost-efficient strategy within the financial budget of the scheme to protect prospective residents from flooding. This involved raising land to reinforce defences and lifting floor levels.
BSP was also involved in drawing up designs for the levels on site, along with the drainage system.
The £13m project, being built by Vistry Partnerships for Acis Group, is due for completion in 2021. Architect on the scheme is Acanthus WSM.
BSP is the civil, structural and transportation engineer on the development, which features four-storey apartment blocks, and a mix of two-storey affordable, shared ownership and private homes, plus 218 car parking spaces.
