Residential Development Isle of Wight

Experts at BSP played a key role in overturning, on appeal, refusal of plans for two new housing schemes on the Isle of Wight. At the pre-planning stage of the process, BSP undertook and completed the Transport Assessment and Travel Plan, as well as the Flood Risk Assessment and Drainage Strategy.

After the two different schemes on a greenfield site within the village of Arreton were refused, the proposals went to appeal. BSP provided experts to the appeal, on behalf of developer LAE Calloway, and won, with a partial award of costs.

The inspector concluded that both appeals were allowed, as there was no conflict with policy and that the conditions and the provisions of the obligations could secure an appropriate standard of development.

BSP is currently involved in the subsequent civil engineering and highways design work as development of the sites moves forward.
