Phoenix 2020 Cinema Leicester

Phoenix is on the way to becoming a four screen cinema in 2020, complete with a new art gallery, a green roof terrace and more spaces for making and learning, It’s all part of their ambition to make inspiring film and art available to all.

BSP Consulting is delighted to hear that Phoenix in Leicester is to receive £4 million of National Lottery money invested by Arts Council England towards Phoenix 2020 – a scheme to expand its current building and become a four-screen independent cinema in 2020.

BSP prepared a Transport Statement for the successful planning application for the development after being appointed by Focus Consultants, project manager for Phoenix.

The plans include a 1,200 square metre extension added to the existing building. This will make space for two further cinema screens; a larger and more prominent digital art gallery with an atrium; a bigger café bar; and new spaces for making and learning.

Architects Arcadis, working with Phoenix, drew up the plans for the £7 million development of the site, based in Midland Street in the Cultural Quarter of Leicester.
