A ground-breaking ceremony marked the start on site of a new primary school in Northamptonshire.
BSP is the civil and structural engineer for the 420-place school in Glenvale Park, a 3,000-home sustainable urban extension to the north of Wellingborough.
The ground-breaking event marked a key point in the delivery of the development’s masterplan. In attendance were members of North Northants Council, Wellingborough Town Council, Homes England, and local community groups.
The new school, plus a 75-place nursery and community Centre on the site, is being built by contractor Lindum Group. Architect is GSS Architecture.
BSP director Paul Elphick said: “It’s great to be on site, supporting the delivery of this new primary school in Northamptonshire. Educational facilities are important parts of any new development, and we are very pleased to be helping to create the infrastructure and community facilities at Glenvale Park.
“BSP Consulting has worked on many new build schools across the East Midlands, and we look forward to seeing this one open its doors to a new generation of youngsters in due course.”

The new school, for pupils aged from five to 11, features classrooms, offices, a studio, main hall, resource/IT hub, staff rooms and covered play area.
It is due to be complete for the school intake of September 2023.
BSP Consulting is using BIM (Building Information Modelling) on the scheme.
Special guest at the ground-breaking event was Cllr Valerie Anslow, Deputy Mayor of Wellingborough Town Council, who cut the first piece of grass and said a few words to mark the occasion.
“The ground-breaking event was a great way to celebrate work beginning on the primary and nursery schools at Glenvale Park,” she said.
“It fills me with tremendous pride to be able to kick-off these works which will bring additional school spaces to Wellingborough and be a place of inspiration for future generations. I’m looking forward to seeing how the schools progress in the coming months ahead of their opening in 2023.”
