Plans have been approved for Weldon Park Local Centre near Corby, Northampton.
Engineers at BSP Consulting undertook the flood risk assessment and drainage strategy report, along with detailed civil and structural engineering design works as well as ground investigation works for the scheme which is being developed by LSP Developments.
Enabling work by Persimmon Homes has started on site and LSP aims to begin site work shortly. The current 31-week construction timeline is targeting completion by late summer 2024.
The development features a 4,500 sq ft convenience store let to Sainsbury’s, together with an 1,800 sq ft café to be occupied by Esquires coffee and two ancillary retail units, each of 900 sq ft let to Rumbles Fish & Chips & Golden Scissors respectively.
Adjacent to the retail parade is the phase two nursery plot which has planning consent for a 5100 sq ft facility and is either available freehold or leasehold through LSP Developments Ltd.
Housing development
Weldon Park Local Centre is part of a new Persimmon Homes housing development to the south east of the village of Weldon, being built off Airfield Way.
BSP Consulting has been involved in a number of local centre schemes and has worked with LSP Developments on several projects.
BSP associate Carol Ell said: “We are delighted that Weldon Park Local Centre has been given planning permission by North Northamptonshire Council, and were very pleased to be a part of the team that helped to secure it. The local centre will bring some excellent new facilities to this housing development being built by Persimmon Homes.”
LSP’s managing director Ed Sutton said: “This scheme is testament to our tenacity and the intent of Persimmon Homes in wanting to get this scheme delivered for the many residents on the Weldon Park scheme. It’s great to have such anchors as Sainsbury’s and Esquires together with the other ancillary operators who will provide a range of offerings to serve the local population.”
