A new housing development – The Avenues in Newark – has been completed and is proving extremely popular, with almost all properties sold.
BSP Consulting was the civil and structural engineer for the scheme which was built off Bowbridge Road in the Nottinghamshire town.
It has provided a total of 87 new homes – 20 contemporary two-bed apartments, bungalows and houses, plus a range of three and four-bed houses.
Developed by Arkwood Developments Ltd and built by Oakworth Construction, the scheme in Lord Hawke Way is conveniently located with great transport links, schools and a number of local amenities including a fitness and leisure centre right on the doorstep. It is situated within walking distance of the historic town centre of Newark.
BSP provided civil and structural engineering consultancy for the residential development, which features sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) and attractive landscaping. This included flood risk assessment and the drainage strategy.
Other members of the team included Jackson Design Associates, who developed the site concept and full planning scheme design.
Expertise
BSP director Tony Goddard said: “We are very pleased that The Avenues in Newark has been completed and is proving to be a popular residential development.
“BSP Consulting undertook the civil and structural engineering aspects of this project, which was next door to a care home site that we previously worked on so we were very familiar with the area.
“As one of the leading independent civil and structural engineering companies in the East Midlands, we have been involved in numerous housing schemes across the region and further afield. It’s always satisfying when a development is completed and families and individuals move in.”
Edward Langtry, Development Manager for Arkwood Developments, said: “As a client you depend on the expertise of the parties you work with, and I am pleased to say that BSP were an excellent consultant for Arkwood to partner with on this scheme. Joining the project early in the design and planning approval stages with flood risk assessment works, through to working up the detailed structural and civil engineering packages, undertaking site visits as necessary and helping with the roads and sewers adoption, BSP were happy to support throughout the project.”
