Developers planning to work on land affected by mining should complete a Coal Mining Risk Assessment (CMRA) to determine risk from subsidence, hazardous ground gases or toxicity. BSP Consulting provides a CMRA service in accordance with guidelines by the Coal Authority.
CMRAs are typically required to support any planning application in a Development High Risk Area as designated by the Coal Authority.
The CMRA will scrutinise the potential impact of historical mining activities on ground instability, pinpoint any risks, and set out a strategy for investigation and remediation.
