The feasibility of and constraints affecting site drainage can have significant cost implications and should, therefore, be assessed as early as possible in any site appraisal. BSP’s team is skilled at gathering and interpreting relevant background information from surveys, site investigations, sewerage utility companies, internal drainage boards and the Environment Agency which allows us to create a drainage feasibility study that identifies the most cost-efficient way of draining the site and flag up any abnormal cost elements.
BSP’s experts in drainage are fully up-to-date with recent and upcoming legislation and changes to guidance, including the Flood and Water Management Act 2010, Water Industry (Schemes for Adoption of Private Sewers) Regulations 2011, Sewers for Adoption 7th and Code for Sustainable Homes – SUR1 Mandatory Element covering surface water drainage provision.
Ahead of the full implementation of the Flood and Water Management Act, when the adoption of SuDS (Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems) by county councils will become the norm, BSP has been building links with the fledgling SuDS Approving Bodies (SABS) and is keen to develop a collaborative approach to the design and adoption of these surface water drainage features.
