It’s exciting to see each home including a ground source heat pump, which again signals our commitment to more sustainable housing and reducing the carbon footprint of our homes.Marcus Keys,

Work is progressing well on a scheme to create 135 affordable homes in Boston in Lincolnshire.
BSP Consulting is civil and structural engineer on the project which is being developed by Longhurst Group and built by BSP’s client D Brown Builders.
The Leas on Toot Lane in the town will provide much-needed affordable housing in the area.
Construction on the one, two, three and four-bedroom homes is now well under way.
The development will be made up of 12 one-bedroom homes, 69 two-bedroom properties, 50 three-bedroom homes and a further four with four-bedrooms.
They’ll be made available for Shared Ownership, Rent to Buy and social rent. The scheme is being part-funded through a grant from Homes England and is scheduled for completion in 2025.
Longhurst utilised funding from their Homes England Strategic Partnership.
Key challenges and engineering solutions
The prevailing strata of Tidal Flat Deposits are notoriously very soft with poor bearing capacities that cannot be improved. Often deep foundations such as piles are the only viable option. For this site we noted that there was a stiff ‘crust’ and, with geotechnical engineer support, we were able to prove shallow foundations were viable.
