This will be a world-class facility and the maintenance team will be increased by 50 jobs.Martin Frobisher,
Network Rail's East Midlands route managing director
Network Rail required a new maintenance depot, including office space and a stores area, at Derby. The scheme includes a SuDS drainage system, levels and building construction so as not to exacerbate flooding in the area, and steel frame office and stores on pile and ground beam foundations.
The design was in accordance with guidance from the Environment Agency, local council and general Network Rail design standards.
The project was completed on time, under budget, to a very high standard and great satisfaction of Network Rail. In June 2015 the development was rated highly commended at the ICE East Midlands Merit Awards.
