Experts from BSP Consulting were brought in to suggest ways of repairing the roof of Hull’s Paragon Railway Station. The five arched span platform roof was installed at the beginning of the 20th Century, and comprises tongue and grooved timbers spanning between barrel vaulted cast iron arched frames.
The team was able to put forward a method which meant that the existing timbers, many of which were rotting, could be kept in place. The overcladding system also avoided any additional strengthening work to the listed structure.
