BSP Consulting has welcomed the news that plans to build student flats on land next to the One Friar Gate Square development in Derby have been approved.
The company assisted with pre-planning services for the apartments, known as Agard Court, having previously been the civil and structural engineer for the adjoining site at One Friar Gate Square.
The seven-floor apartment scheme features 244 one-bed rooms, as well as a new stairway to Friar Gate Bridge and the creation of a courtyard.
Derby City Council recently awarded planning permission to developer Jensco.
The development was designed by architects careyjones chapmantolcher (CJCT), who also worked on One Friar Gate Square.
One Friar Gate Square, which won an East Midlands fbe Award, is currently occupied by the University of Derby’s Law School and its International Policing and Justice Institute, as well as the university’s criminology and policing provision.
