Peterlee Retail Park County Durham project reached practical completion six weeks early, featuring a range of shops and hospitality outlets in the North East – despite the challenges of the Covid pandemic.
BSP was the civil and structural engineer on the development at Peterlee in County Durham, which includes Home Bargains, Lidl, Sue Ryder, KFC, Starbucks and charging station InstaVolt.
It is the latest in a long line of similar projects that BSP has undertaken for Quora, a leading national commercial and mixed-use property development firm specialising in retail and mixed-use developments in town, district and local centres.
Other members of the team included principal contractor Jessops Construction, architect The Harris Partnership, HPM as project manager, geo-environmental engineers Geodyne and Cynergi, as employer’s agent.

BSP Consulting provided civil and structural engineering consultancy services for a similar project at Skegness Retail Park in Lincolnshire.
A new shopping complex in Burgh Road joined by Aldi, Pets at Home, a Marks and Spencer foodhall, B&M and a Marston’s pub and restaurant.
This phase started when Skegness Town AFC relocated to Wainfleet Road, The works included the reduced level dig of the existing football pitch and demolition of the old club house and outbuildings.
Skegness Retail Park in Lincolnshire includes an Aldi Food store unit (19,000 sq ft), an M&S unit (15,000sq ft), a B&M unit (25,000 sq ft) and a Pets at Home unit (5,000 sq ft).
