BSP Consulting is part of the team building the new Worksop Fire Station.
The company has been appointed as civil and structural engineer for the scheme by contractor GF Tomlinson.
Earlier this year Bassetlaw District Council approved a planning application by Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service for a new fire station in Worksop on the Vesuvius development off Sandy Lane.
The new building will replace the existing station on Eastgate, which was built in 1963.
It is being designed with the latest in renewable technology and will self-generate up to 50% of its energy needs. The new Worksop Fire Station will include a training tower, a generator and a fuel store.
Blue light schemes
BSP managing director Carl Hilton said: “We are very pleased and proud to be supporting our emergency services with a new state-of-the-art fire station for Worksop and its surrounding areas.
BSP has been involved in a number of blue light schemes, and we are looking forward to seeing this project come to fruition.”
Worksop is staffed by both full-time and on-call firefighters and they will all move to the station when it is operational.
As well as providing civil and structural engineering design services for the construction phase, BSP also provided civil, structural, transportation and geo-environmental services for the tender phase.
Work started on site at the end of June and the new station is expected to open in October next year.

This is part of our long-term strategic plan to replace ageing and expensive-to-run accommodation and will provide an excellent base to deliver our community prevention, fire protection and emergency response capabilities.”
Chair of the Fire Authority Councillor Michael Payne said: “This investment demonstrates a clear commitment to the communities of Bassetlaw. I am looking forward to the day when firefighters can move in and continue to deliver excellent services to the surrounding communities.”
Fire Authority Member Councillor Sybil Fielding said: “The new station will provide our very committed firefighters with a modern, environmentally friendly building to help them continue to keep the people of Bassetlaw safe.”
