A Nottingham City Homes project to provide 37 independent living units in Strelley has been completed.
BSP Consulting was the civil and structural engineer on the development, which also included a new library.
Built by GEDA Construction, the complex features 37 apartments, two residents’ lounges and a residents’ private garden.
The main building was designed as a steel-framed transfer structure up to first floor level, providing the open spaces required for the library at ground floor. A lightweight two-storey prefabricated timber frame structure was constructed over the library for the independent living spaces. The structure changed to the east side of building to primarily traditional load bearing masonry up to first floor level, with the timber frame structure continuing over up to the second floor.
Architect was Halsall Lloyd Partnership, and Anderson Green the M&E consultants.
