BSP Consulting has been appointed the civil and structural engineer on a former college site development.
Nottingham Community Housing Association (NCHA) is creating a mixed-use scheme at Farnborough Road, Clifton.
Designed by in-house architects Pelham, the development will include a new headquarters for NCHA, which will house a call centre, a training facility, a maintenance depot and a café for NCHA colleagues and the public.
It will also feature 50 apartments for older people with onsite support and communal facilities, 14 apartments and six bungalows for supported living, retention of the existing sporting facilities, including a gym, changing rooms and football pitches, plus parking for 185 cars, including electric charge points, and up to 30 cycle stores.
The development has been sympathetically designed to make sure it doesn’t compromise the openness of the countryside views and living walls and green roofs are being incorporated throughout to add to the rural nature of the setting.
Heat pumps are being installed and carbon neutral materials will be used wherever practically possible.
Gareth Ellison, Associate – Structural Engineer at BSP Consulting said: “We are very pleased to be involved in this former college site development being undertaken by Nottingham Community Housing Association. The scheme is an imaginative project which will create a new HQ for NCHA, plus some new apartments and bungalows, along with community facilities.”
Community hub
BSP Consulting is providing the civil and structural design on the project, working alongside contactor GEDA.
It is hoped the scheme will create a new community focal point in Clifton that supports local sports clubs, creates job opportunities, is energy efficient and provides a safe and secure hub for living, working and playing.
The development team will begin the construction phase of the project shortly.
