Construction has officially started on a new care and nursing home in West Bridgford, Nottingham.
The dementia and nursing care facility at Church Farm at Skylarks will provide a hydrotherapy pool, a café and social hub, luxurious new bedrooms and specially-designed landscaping featuring sensory trails.
In a first for the area, the care and nursing home will also offer state-of-the-art assisted living pods within the grounds.
At the planning stage, engineers at BSP Consulting undertook the flood risk assessment, drainage strategy and traffic plan for the scheme on Adbolton Lane.
Subsequently, the company also undertook highway access design, construction design and detailing for the access road and car park, environmental permitting with the Environment Agency for the realigned flood defence to make extra room available for the assisted living pods, and civil engineering design for the site drainage and external works.
Key project consultants for the development for Church Farm Care were Grace Machin Planning & Property and Leonard Design Architects and other members of the team, who include Ben Martin Project Management, Addison Hunt, Influence, and LNC Property Developments.
The team successfully identified six “very special circumstances” that fully justify why the scheme should go ahead despite being located within a Green Belt.
Vision
The vision for this new care and nursing home scheme goes back to 2017, with the scheme receiving planning permission five years ago.
Architects Leonard Design said: “This is more than just a building; it’s testament to the power of great design and the dedication of an incredible team. While good design takes time, the result will be a groundbreaking, therapeutic environment that enhances the lives of residents, staff, and families for generations to come.”
BSP Consulting director Tony Goddard said he was pleased to see that work had now officially started on the new care and nursing home scheme.
“We were pleased to be appointed to provide the flood risk assessment, drainage strategy and traffic plan for this development at the planning stage, and subsequent services later, as this scheme will offer such important care to the local community,” he said.
“BSP Consulting has significant experience of working on plans for new care and nursing homes and it’s great to see that this one has now moved to the delivery stage.”
