Enabling works have begun to create a new two-storey block featuring 15 additional classrooms at a school in Derby.
BSP is the civil, structural and transportation engineer for the scheme at Murray Park Community School, Mickleover, which has been designed by Lungfish Architects and is being delivered in partnership by Wates Construction and Scape Group.
The contractors are due to start work on the new building shortly, with completion expected in August 2019 – ready for use at the beginning of the new academic year in September 2019.
Featuring a new block at the front of the existing secondary school, the development will contain a reception area, 15 classrooms, and a number of offices. It is being built to increase pupil capacity by around 550 spaces up to 1,650. Derby City Council is the client.
