CPD session on landscape architecture

Twelve members of the BSP team took part in a Continuing Professional Development session led by Dave Singleton, of DSA Environment + Design – Landscape Architects.

The event was part of BSP’s Lunch and Learn programme – supporting staff with CPD.

Entitled Using Engineering to Make Places, the presentation focused on a number of projects that BSP and DSA Environment + Design have worked on together in the past to create species-rich habitats, Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) and other biodiverse and sustainable features.

Mentioned in the presentation was Birkett House School in Leicestershire which went on to achieve a prestigious Green Apple Award for its innovative sustainable drainage system created by BSP Consulting and DSA Environment + Design.

BSP Consulting fielded a team in the Woodhead Group Charity Golf Day in aid of charity.

BSP director Paul Elphick and BSP senior civil engineer Oliver Dike along with guests Ian Humphries from Corstorphine & Wright and Daryl Woolley from Pulse Associates flew the flag for the company.

The event, which was held at Nottinghamshire Golf Club, raised more than £3,600 to be split between Nottinghamshire Mind, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance, and Edwinstowe and Dukeries Lions Club.

Support for students

BSP director Clive Roddick took part in E4E mock interviews at Landau Forte College, Derby – giving students an opportunity to practice their interview skills and techniques. Enterprise for Education (E4E) is a Derby-based initiative which links employers with schools and students to raise aspirations, create a better understanding about career opportunities and improve employability skills amongst young people.

Sporting success

Congratulations to civil engineering graduate James Ealden who has achieved double success by being part of two teams that won British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) championships.

James, who works in our Leicester office, was captain of the Loughborough University Softball Team and a member of Loughborough University Baseball Team, which both triumphed at the BUCS National Championships held at Farnham Park National Baseball and Softball Complex near Slough.

James, who is currently studying part time for his masters in construction project management with BIM at Loughborough University, is pictured with the softball team in the front row, holding the trophy.
