Switch Up Charity Dinner
BSP Consulting co-hosted a table with architect Stephen George + Partners (SGP) at the annual Switch Up Charity Dinner, which raised an amazing £85,000 for Switch Up.
The charity exists to empower Nottingham’s young people, children and young adults to break the cycle of offending and reoffending.
Drinks reception
The Pitcher & Piano in Nottingham’s Lace Market was the venue for a drinks reception hosted jointly by BSP Consulting and architects YMD Boon.
UKREiiF 2025
A team from BSP Consulting had a successful, productive and inspiring visit to UKREiiF 2025, held in Leeds.
MD Carl Hilton, director Paul Elphick and business development manager Carrie Booth represented the company – taking part in events and meetings.
It was a great opportunity to make new connections and strengthen existing relationships.
Sweet treat
It was chocolate heaven for our guests when we organised a lesson at Sarsfield’s Chocolaterie, Kinoulton. Thanks to those who joined us.
Nottingham Women in Construction
Three female team members from BSP Consulting joined a networking event organised by Nottingham Women in Construction.
Associate directors Carol Ell and Jo Posnett, plus business development manager Carrie Booth, who is a committee member of NWIC, took part in the event at Trent Bridge Cricket Ground, which was sponsored by 2XL Commercial Finance.
Guest speaker was cost centre lead and director at Turner & Townsend Claire Colgan.
Fantasy Football champ!
Congratulations to civil engineer Ki McLaren, this year’s undisputed BSP Consulting Fantasy Football Champion!
Ki, who is based in our Nottingham office, has achieved the remarkable feat of winning both the League and the Cup competition, claiming total victory and walking away with all the glory.
A huge well done to Inter Ki-Ami on an incredible season!
We now look ahead to the new league kicking off in August, and we can’t wait to see our staff dive back into what has become a firm favourite in our calendar.
Cycling stars
Thanks to those who joined BSP’s team on the 104-mile C2C2C cycle ride in June.
The charity cycle ride event around Lincolnshire is an annual event, which this year was supporting Children’s Bereavement Centre, Headway Lincolnshire, Lincolnshire Down’s Syndrome Support Group, Lindap, LIVES, Lowlands Search & Rescue & St Andrew’s Hospice.
BSP’s team was hosted by Josh Plumridge and Daniel Gillen, with business development manager Carrie Booth providing the support vehicle, and our guests included Spencer Warren from Heatons Planning, Paul Wheatley from Charterpoint, Luke Turner from Franklin Ellis Architects, and David Stutting from Amplius.
Housing 2025
Thank you to our guests who joined team BSP and Halsall Lloyd Partnership at our jointly held lunch during Housing 2025 in Manchester.
Thanks also to GEDA, Lovell Partnerships, Mercer Building Solutions and emh group for invitations to various drinks receptions – the networking was excellent.
Lincoln Construction and Property Summit
This year’s Lincoln Construction and Property Summit organised by Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce and held at the Showroom, YMCA Lincolnshire’s Conference Centre, proved to be very informative.
It included a great variety of information and insight for delegates to take away, and included a discussion on heritage buildings, connected coast developments, the benefits of frameworks, unlocking legal development, and how to solve the affordable housing crisis.
Work experience
We’re fully supportive of providing work experience for the next generation of professionals.
Recently we hosted Elizabeth Hollis, 17, from The Redhill Academy, for a week in our business development department, where she helped out with website and social media work, accompanied business development manager Carrie Booth to project meetings, and got involved with other key tasks.
Earlier in the year, Edward Schofield from Minster School spent three days at BSP alongside structural engineer Josh Plumridge in the structures team. He was given a solid introduction to the basics of structural engineering, which included looking at how different types of loads act on a structure, to support an understanding of load takedowns, foundation design, and an introduction to beam calculations.
Uganda trip
Civil engineer Finlay East has been supported by BSP Consulting to spend more time in Uganda helping communities in the country.
Finlay has been going to Cameroon with his family since the age of five with two charities – CBM, a Christian charity, and Meal-A-Day, which was founded by his grandfather Arthur East and now has projects throughout the world, but mainly in Africa.
Due to the civil war in Cameroon, he has now begun undertaking voluntary work in Uganda instead and on his most recent visit he spent most of his time in Jinja.
“Here, on the banks of the river Nile, we helped lead a youth camp and taught the youth about some of the messages in the Bible,” explained Finlay.
“During this week we played a lot of shoeless football, volleyball and team games as well as eating the local food!
“This year, the whole water supply for the town was cut off for a few days so we had to source our water from a nearby spring, which we used to fill up the water tank manually.”
Women in Construction in Lincolnshire
Business development manager Carrie Booth enjoyed the July Women in Construction in Lincolnshire event held at Roythornes Solicitors’ Spalding office.
It featured speakers from Roythornes Solicitors who talked about planning conditions and health and safety requirements in contracts, as well as insight into the career journey of Becky McConnell, associate at Roythornes.
Trek for Change
Business development manager Carrie Booth was pleased to join the annual CPMG Architects charity walk in the Peak District, which this year raised money for Dogs for Autism. The 30-mile walk started at Monsal Head and ended at the Monsal Head Hotel.
