A consortium including BSP Consulting has been appointed to build a Bingham Leisure Centre scheme in Nottinghamshire.
Planning permission has recently been granted for the £18m Bingham Leisure Centre project.
The project will include a 25m six-lane pool, a teaching pool, a spectator area, a gym, exercise studio rooms, changing facilities and a community hall.
A separate two-storey office building for local businesses is also being built at the site in Chapel Lane.
BSP is providing the civil and structural engineering services for the Rushcliffe Borough Council Bingham Leisure Centre scheme.
Other members of the consortium are Henry Riley LLP, providing project management, cost management, principal designer and CDM services, ESP Ltd, providing mechanical and electrical services, and YMD Boon, as architect and landscape architect.
The pool is a proprietary Steel pool structure constructed in an outer concrete tank. The project was complicated by a high water table.
Long span glulam beams are over the main pool area.
The Gymnasium is suspended over the learner pool using a long span pseudo vierendeel truss.
Complex acoustic attenuation between functional areas, with a weight gym, studios and a pool adjoining a performance hall.
Bingham Leisure Centre in Nottinghamshire is due to complete late 2021.
